Dear Union Members,

Per Article VI of the collective bargaining agreement, your employer will be offering you a contract on or before May 1, 2015. You are to sign and return the contract to your employer on or before May 15, 2015. *

Do not sign your contract unless it is fully completed. There should be no blanks.

  • For full-time teachers, the salary step, degree, years of service and date of original tenure must be complete. The tenure section must say “has” or “has not.”
  • For part-time teachers, the degree and day(s) worked sections must be completed.
  • The salary section of both contracts should say TBD (to be determined).

If you are not returning to your school for the 2015-2016 school year, you must notify your employer in writing no later than May 15, 2015--except for those teachers who may be eligible for the Enhanced Voluntary Retirement Plan (see below).

* For the teachers who meet criteria for the Enhanced Voluntary Retirement Plan ONLY:
This following is the information provided by the Office of Teacher Personnel:

“All contracts should be signed by May 15, 2015 as per the collective bargaining agreement.”

“Since the Archdiocese is offering the Enhanced Voluntary Retirement Plan and the window to accept the offer is from May 15, 2015 through June 30, 2015, ONLY teachers who will attain age 60 on or before June 30, 2015 will have the option to be released from their contract during the “window period” for the purpose of retirement. However, this only applies if you are accepting the offer of the Enhanced Voluntary Retirement Plan.” All others must let the employer know if you are returning on or before May 15, 2015.

If you are not offered a contract for the 2015-2016 school year, please call the Union Office at 718-370-0081.

Sincerely,
Julia Pignataro
President
