The Federation of Catholic Teachers is the collective bargaining representative for the lay faculty in 161 elementary schools and 16 high schools in the Archdiocese of New York.  

We are affiliated with the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 153, AFL-CIO.

The Mission of the Federation of Catholic Teachers is:
 
  • To encourage Christian ideals and principles in dealings among members, students, their parents and all people associated with Catholic schools.
  • To encourage and promote a climate of excellence to further the moral and intellectual development of our students.
  • To secure improved wages, hours, working conditions and other economic advantages through organization, negotiation and collective bargaining that will raise the standards of the education profession.
  • To unite into one group all teachers, librarians and counselors employed in Catholic schools and to assist and cooperate with other education and labor organizations on matters of mutual concern.
  • To encourage Catholic schools and the Church to honor their commitments in the area of social justice by providing fair and just compensation and working conditions.
  • To assist members seeking to improve their professional skills and techniques, as well as the quality of education in their schools.
  • To promote cooperation between our members and the Catholic schools at the local and central levels.
